American Elkhart is at the forefront of plastic extrusion, specializing in materials such as TPE, TPV, PVC and HDPE. We are currently seeking a dedicated person to join our team as a second-shift profile plastic extrusion operator.
Located in Elkhart, Indiana — the RV Capital of the World — this is an opportunity for both experienced line workers and newcomers with the right potential, as we offer comprehensive training for promising candidates.
Your Role & Responsibilities
As a profile plastic extrusion operator, you’ll be an integral part of our production line with responsibilities that ensure the smooth and efficient manufacturing of our high-quality plastic products. Operators typically work in pairs, with one team member overseeing the front of the line and a second person collecting finished product at the end.
Here’s what the job entails:
- Line Setup: You’ll be responsible for the preparation of our extrusion lines, ensuring materials and machines are primed for production.
- Production Oversight: Your main role is to oversee the production process, ensuring our products are manufactured to meet exacting standards.
- Quality Monitoring: Vigilance is key. You’ll keep a close eye on the production line, intervening as needed. Whether it’s cutting materials to the specified length or coiling them for packaging, your attention to detail with make a difference.
- Team Collaboration: You’ll collaborate with a team member who co-manages the line, maintaining hopper levels and preventing stops in production. Together, you’ll ensure finished materials are properly set on pallets and prepared for the next stage.

Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive Pay: Earn $15–$20+ an hour, based on your experience.
- Health Insurance Reimbursement: After 90 days, we provide a monthly stipend for you to secure your own health insurance.
- Retirement Plan: Eligibility for a simple IRA after 90 days.
- Vacation Time: 2 weeks of vacation time after 90 days.
Working Hours
Your schedule would consist of four 10-hour shifts per week, from 2 p.m.–2 a.m. Monday through Friday.
